How we handle your data

PRIVACY NOTICE — BURY RANGERS FC WEBSITE Last updated: 17th July 2026 Who we are: Bury Rangers FC ("we", "the club") runs this website. We are the data controller for personal information collected through it. For any privacy questions, email contact@buryrangers.com. What this notice covers: This notice explains how we handle information collected through this website and the coaching area ("the Dugout"). Membership registration, subscriptions and safeguarding records collected elsewhere (e.g. sign-up forms, the FA or team-messaging apps) are covered by the club's separate data-protection policy. Information we collect: - Information you give us. When you submit a join or contact enquiry we collect the details you provide — your name, email, phone number, and (for a player enquiry) the child's first name, age or date of birth and the section of interest — so we can route your message to the right person and reply. If you have a coach or committee account, we hold your name, email, mobile and FA accreditation details. - Information collected automatically (analytics). We record anonymous usage data — the page visited, approximate device type, referring website and country. This is cookieless: we do not store your IP address, set cookies, or keep anything that identifies you. To count unique visitors we generate a one-way, daily-rotating anonymous code from technical data that cannot be traced back to you. Cookies and local storage We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising, and this site sets no cookies. We use your browser's local storage only for essential functions: keeping you signed in, remembering your basket, and remembering your selected team. These are not used to track you and are cleared when you clear your browser's site data. How we use your information and why - To respond to your enquiries and connect you with the right club contact (based on your request / your consent). - To run coach and committee accounts and the coaching tools (our legitimate interest in running the club). - To understand how the site is used and improve it, using anonymous analytics (our legitimate interest; no personal data is involved). Children's privacy Player enquiries should be submitted by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website. Any information about a child provided in an enquiry is used only to respond and direct it to the appropriate section lead. Who we share it with Enquiries are delivered to the relevant club volunteer (committee member, admin or coach). We use trusted service providers to host the site and database and to send email; they process data on our behalf under contract. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. How long we keep it Enquiry and message records are kept only as long as needed to deal with your request and for club administration, then deleted. Anonymous analytics data is retained in aggregate; no personal data is stored. Your rights Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or object to or restrict its use. To make a request, contact [club email]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. Changes We may update this notice; the "last updated" date shows when it last changed.
