A great performance by all the girls today as we played a friendly match away having no league fixture against Division 2 opposition Potters Bar Raiders.
From the beginning we dominated the game pressing the ball high and some great interchange between the midfield three and our strikers for Erin SO and Ella up front.
We should of taken the lead on 17 minutes through Ella which was saved by the keeper and went about a foot over the line but it was deemed not to be a goal. Where is VAR when you need it ha ha!
This did not deter the girls and a great through ball by Faye to Ella saw a strong shot slotted in low on 28 minutes for what was a deserved lead for the girls.
A couple of great saves by Ava kept the score in our favour as we went into half time with the lead.
Half Time 1 Vs 0
We knew second half that Potters Bar would come out fighting and they did but we stuck to our task and continued to press well and play our football. Again some great interchanging from the midfield to the forward of Ava and Ella / Erin So gave as several corners and many more changes at goal only to be kept out by their keeper.
As the game drew near Maisy made a great save to keep the score in our favour and started a swift attack which went through almost every player on the pitch which saw Erin K have a strong effort saved and the ref the blow the whistle for the end of the game.
Our players of the match were .....
Erin SO who had her best game this season for us up front with some strong running and hold up play which allowed the midfield to join the strikers in attack
Faye who helped lead the midfield charge and ran the game with her creative play and stuck to her individual challenge of try to play through that killer ball to the front our down the channels.
Special mention also to Ava and Maisy who give it there all in goal, made some good positive saves and were both rewarded with keeping clean sheets.
All the girls should be really proud of todays performance, there were 10 leaders out their on the pitch and everyone stepped up and took responsibility from start to finished. Give yourselves a big pat on the back!
